Bluey fetches another theatrical release

For the third consecutive year, the preschool toon (featured image) is heading to theaters with a new episode package called Bluey at the Cinema: Playdates with Friends Collection. Distributor Vue Lumière will make this hour-long compilation available in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on March 27. Piece of Magic Entertainment will handle other European territories including Spain, Poland, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. 

Ms. Rachel colors in the lines

Crayola has teamed up with the popular online educator for a new Color Wonder range of mess-free art supplies for kids that only work on paper (and not on skin, clothing, furniture or walls). The arts & crafts manufacturer will drop its Ms. Rachel-branded products this spring and summer, including a Magic Light Brush and several activity sets.

Kids brands groove into new music deals

After decades with ABC Music, The Wiggles are moving to a new label: Universal Music Group. This deal will see UMG leading streaming, digital, physical releases, promotion and marketing for the Aussie group’s popular music, with Republic Records Kids & Family handling all US releases. Meanwhile, Animaj has tapped Sony’s kids label Magic Star to manage global distribution of its music with Sony Music Publishing. The agreement covers tunes from franchises like Pocoyo and Maya the Bee (which is planning a big push with original songs). 

Disney and Pixar light up for storytime

Cottage Door Press is adding popular characters from both animation titans to its Luna StoryTime Projector. The likes of Moana, Toy Story, Mickey Mouse and Frozen will join the offering this summer—letting kids watch immersive stories on their walls at home with illustrations, narration and other interactive elements. Cottage Door Press has been on a licensing spree since last year, striking deals with Mattel, Sesame Workshop and Spin Master.

Secrets at Red Rocks scores a renewal

This live-action family series is set to deliver a second season that has been co-commissioned by Sky NZ and BYUtv in the US. Produced by Kiwi studio Libertine Pictures, Secrets at Red Rocks is based on Rachael King’s 2012 tween novel of the same name. The story follows a 12-year-old boy who unleashes a dangerous spell and must find a mythical creature with the ability to change from seal to human.
