Mattel Studios promotes Rob David
The studio’s VP of content creative for television is moving up to become SVP of animation—tasked with overseeing development, creative and production for animated programming across streaming, linear and digital. With 15 years under his belt at Mattel, David (pictured) has developed a flair for leading the storytelling for its brands (his animated kids credits include preschool toon Hot Wheels: Let’s Race, Netflix’s CG-animated series He-Man and Masters of the Universe and the upcoming Pingu revival). He will continue reporting to Mattel Studios president and content chief Robbie Brenner.
Mike Ireland to join the WB Motion Picture Group
The movie biz veteran will step into a role as president of production at the division next month—his first new gig since exiting Paramount last year. Building on its box-office success streak, this hire coincides with WB’s efforts to ramp up its theatrical slate, with sequels to A Minecraft Movie and Wonka already in the works. During his four-year run heading up the motion picture group at Paramount, Ireland oversaw heavy-hitter franchises including Sonic the Hedgehog and Transformers.
