Netflix Animation Studios (NAS) Vancouver has expanded its presence in the B.C. city with the opening today of a new 110,600-square-foot studio (pictured).

The new location is purpose-built for feature film animation and development. The Vancouver employees of Netflix’s in-house VFX company, Eyeline, will join the studio to create an integrated hub for animation and VFX. More than 450 people will work at the new facility.

NAS Vancouver’s next project is the animated feature Steps, a reimagining of the story of Cinderella’s sisters, featuring the voices of Ali Wong (Beef), Stephanie Tsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Amanda Seyfried (The Housemaid). (The project is not to be confused with a live-action one with a similar concept in development at Disney.)

Previous feature films that the studio has worked on include the musical comedies Leo (2023) and Thelma the Unicorn (2024).

NAS first expanded into Vancouver in 2022 with the acquisition of Australia-based animation and VFX company Animal Logic, including its 45,000 square-foot office in Vancouver.
