The CBC and Windy Isle Entertainment’s new series On Track with Andre De Grasse is a wild concept, about the real-life Olympian going back in time to convince his younger self to change the present. (Then again, low-budget Canadian time-travel stories are all the rage right now.) But the real standout feature about this show is how it was designed from the ground up to be viewed on linear, YouTube and social media at once. It’s a strategy that’s on the rise, and we’re excited to see whether it helps these shows break out wider online—while still delivering robust views for broadcasters. That strategy—and Windy Isle’s recent CSA win—earned the studio and pubcaster this week’s Gold Star!
