Turner International’s digital ventures and innovation division is launching a new cloud-based gaming streaming service, Gloud. Debuting first in Argentina and Chile, Turner intends to roll the platform out further across Latin America and the rest of the globe in the coming year.
While suitable for all fans of video games, Turner is specifically targeting the kids and family market with Gloud. It enables console-quality video game play using streaming and on-demand functions, but it does not require consoles, hard copies of games or downloading large files to a computer in order to work.
Currently, the new service will work on any computer with an internet connection in Argentina and Chile via a downloadable app. Priced at US$10 per month, Gloud will soon also be available on Smart TVs. Its launch catalog includes games focused on racing, action, adventure and strategy.
Turner has been doubling down on games this year for its Cartoon Network properties including the new Ben 10: Up to Speed mobile game available on iOS, Google Play and Amazon for US$2.99 that launched in January, an upcoming console game for OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes developed by Toronto’s Capybara Games and an interactive quiz game that syncs with live episodes of The Amazing World of Gumball for Cartoon Network UK.
