The LEGO Group is partnering with Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. to launch the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, an elaborate 1:8 scale replica model of the sports car. The construction kit launches exclusively in LEGO stores and shop.LEGO.com today, and will bow with all major retailers globally on August 1.
The LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron features 3,599 pieces and measures more than five inches high, 22 inches long and nine inches wide. The construction kit includes an active rear wing, a gearbox with paddle gearshift and a detailed W16 engine with moving pistons.
Each model is personalized with a unique serial number that can be used to unlock content on LEGO.com/technic, as well as a collectors’ booklet with building instructions. Additionally, consumers can learn about the inspiration behind the model’s design through a series of podcasts featuring Bugatti and LEGO experts.
The LEGO Group reported a decline in revenue in 2017, marking the first time the Danish brickmaker saw its annual sales and profits fall since 2004. LEGO’s global revenue declined by 8% to US$5.82 billion last year, driven in part by the clean-up of inventories in the company’s value chain. Moving forward, The LEGO Group says it will focus on stabilizing its business and investing in sustainable growth.
