Summer is nigh, which means that the season for repromotes is rapidly bearing down on retailers. Leading the charge for kidvids that boast a high familiarity quotient-Twentieth Century Fox will release three Wallace and Gromit videos on June 6. The Aardman Animations-produced vids-all prebook May 17-are best-of compilations, which will be available individually (US$9.98 each) and as a three-pack (US$24.98).

On July 25, Twentieth Century Fox will also re-release videos featuring the pilot episodes for classic Marvel comic book properties, including Captain America, Submariner and Spiderman, among others. All of the videos (US$9.98 each) prebook June 14.

For slightly fresher fare, on July 4, Fox plans to release new titles for NASCAR Racers and Digimon. The videos will feature eps culled from each of the Fox-Saban-produced cartoons. The prebook date for both videos is June 14.

On June 13, Buena Vista Home Entertainment will unleash Discover Spot (US$19.99), an educational sing-along starring the preschool publishing phenom of the same name. Prebooking May 2, Spot also features the voice-over talents of Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment.

On June 6, Universal Studios Home Video will release mountie flick Dudley Do-Right to sell-through. The VHS (US$14.98) and DVD (US$24.98) versions for Dudley, both street May 15, come with the animated featurette Fractured Fairy Tale: The Phox, The Box & The Lox.

Paramount Home Entertainment is distributing Blues Clues: Stop Look And Listen and Little Bear: Rainy Day Tale for US$9.95 each. The latest off-TV releases for Nick Jr.’s preschool darlings prebooks on May 2 and streets June 6. National TV spots supporting both titles will air on network and cable channels beginning this month and print ads will appear in TV Guide and Women’s Wear Daily.

Nelvana’s Franklin In the Dark distributed by USA Home Entertainmentfor US$12.95 prebooks on May 9 and streets June 6. The new-to-video episode based on the first Franklin book also features a bonus episode, Franklin and His Night Friend. Starting in late May, Nelvana and USA will run print ads for the video in parenting publications. Each video comes with a savings booklet offering discounts on select licensed Franklin product, and several Franklin licensees are creating glow-in-the-dark toys and games that are themed to the video.

Paramount Home Entertainment is also distributing Becker Entertainment’s DTV The Real Macaw that prebooks June 6 and streets July 11 for US$19.95. In June, PHE will run Macaw promotions with select retailers, and it is also considering cross-promoting the release with U.S.-based zoos.
