Nick Jr. India has picked up new animated preschool series Wissper from Studio 100 and m4e to premiere in the region this fall. The German media companies have also partnered with Viacom18 Media to develop a licensing program based on the show.

TV, digital and home entertainment and L&M rights for the 52 x seven-minute CGI-animated series have already been picked up by India’s Hindi entertainment channel for the subcontinent including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Viacom18 Consumer Products’ new licensing program will roll out on shelves in India later this year, following a line of playthings from, master toy partner Simba Toys launching the initial products this fall.

Wissper is produced by m4e AG and London-based animation studio Cuckoo, in association with Ireland’s Telegael, India’s Discreet Art Productions and Bastei Media, a subsidiary of Bastei Lubbe. The series is about a little girl who can communicate with animals.

Season two, with an additional 52 x seven-minute episodes, is currently in production, with a commission from Viacom-owned Channel 5 UK for its Milkshake! preschool block. This isn’t the first time the series will air on a Nick Jr. channel—as it was picked up by the US channel back in 2015 and began airing in 2016.
