Buena Vista Internet Group (North Hollywood, California, 818-623-3200): Kevin Mayer, former senior VP of strategic planning for Walt Disney, is the new senior VP of BVIG. He is responsible for all international business, and will collaborate with Infoseek to manage Disney’s GO Network.
Canal+ (Paris, France, 33-1-44-25-1000): Canal+ is beefing up its international division with five new appointments. Juan Cueto, currently advisor to the chairman at Tele+, has taken on additional responsibility as programming director. International lawyer Elizabeth Collins has been appointed director, international. Nick Stubbs has been upped from deputy director to director, international. Consultant Claude Deroudilhe has been appointed advisor to Michel Thoulouze, Canal+’s senior executive VP, international. Finally, Jean-Luc Sterckx has joined to manage program teams at premium channels in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Carlton International (London, England, 44-171-224-3339): Sian Facer has been chosen to head the new consumer products group at Carlton. She is responsible for international licensing, publishing and video. Rachel Glaister is the new manager of press and marketing. Prior to the move, Glaister was the head of sales and marketing at Pavilion International.
Columbia TriStar (Los Angeles, California, 310-244-4000): Cheryl Lodinger has jumped from senior VP and group director for the Sony Pictures Entertainment advertising account at McCann Erickson, L.A. to senior VP, marketing at Columbia TriStar Home Video. In her new job, she will oversee all domestic marketing, advertising, promotions, creative services and marketing research.
Copyrights America (Morristown, New Jersey, 973-292-5077): James Slifer, formerly of Bradford Licensing Associates, has joined Copyrights America as a licensing executive. He will be overseeing the toy, food and domestic categories.
Disney Consumer Products (Burbank, California, 818-569-7500): Judy Fearing has been named to the newly created post of senior VP, global marketing and studio development. The former VP of marketing at ESPN will be responsible for marketing and branding strategies for The Disney Store, Buena Vista Publishing, Walt Disney Art Classics, Disney Direct Marketing, Disney Interactive and licensed properties.
Fox Family Worldwide (Los Angeles, California, 310-235-9700): Former Saban director of development Kim Christianson has been named VP of programming and development at Fox Family Channel. She will be responsible for overseeing new animated daytime series such as Mega Babies and Rotten Ralph. Brian Casentini has been upped from manager to director of programming and development at Fox Family Channel. He will be responsible for upcoming projects such as The Kids From Room 402, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! The Series and Angela Anaconda. Abbie Charette has been named senior VP, prime-time series at Fox Family Entertainment. She will oversee series such as The New Addams Family, Misguided Angels and Big Wolf on Campus.
Fox Consumer Products (Beverly Hills, California, 310-369-0606): Steven Ross has been upped to president of Fox licensing and merchandising. He now oversees domestic L&M activities, the U.K. office and 25 international agents.
Hasbro Interactive (Beverly, Massachusetts, 978-921-3700): Kelly Zmak is the new studio head for Hasbro’s MicroProse. He will oversee product development for the studio.
Klasky Csupo (Los Angeles, California, 323-463-0145): Hal Waite has been upped to senior VP of feature animation, with the goal of producing a film each year. He is currently working on a Rugrats sequel for Christmas 2000. Cella Duffy is now senior VP of television animation and will serve as executive producer on all TV production. She will oversee The Wild Thornberrys, Rugrats and the new Nickelodeon series Rocket Power, as well as home video productions for Nick and McDonald’s.
Lyrick Studios (Richardson, Texas, 972-390-6000): Lisa Curtright-Arlen has been named director of retail development and plush sales, overseeing Barney, Wishbone and all distributed properties.
MTV Networks (New York, New York, 212-258-8000): Original MTV creative director and former president of Hanna-Barbera Fred Seibert is now president of MTV networks on-line. He is responsible for both Nickelodeon’s Project Nozzle Web site, set to launch this September, and The Buggles Project, an on-line music site to launch this June.
National Geographic Television (Washington, D.C., 202-857-7680): Julie Bellonte has been promoted to VP of NGT’s international home video division. Bellonte will be responsible for exploring new programming possibilities, including developments in DVD technology.
NBC (New York, New York, 212-664-4444): Garth Ancier has been named NBC’s new entertainment president. Ancier joins from the WB, where he programmed hits such as Felicity and Dawson’s Creek.
NHL Enterprises (New York, New York, 212-789-2000): Former VP of fan development Ken Yaffe is now VP of international business operations and fan development. Frank Nakano is upped from director of international marketing/Asia-Pacific to director of international business operations. Brian Jennings, VP of consumer products marketing, keeps his title but will be given greater responsibilities in the trading card, video game and youth licensing sectors.
Nickelodeon (Los Angeles, California, 310-752-8000): Julia Pistor has been named senior VP of Nickelodeon movies. She is being promoted from VP of the division. Leigh Anne Brodsky is the new senior VP of consumer products. She was brought in to fill the newly created position from a senior VP, marketing position at Golden Books.
Oxygen Media (New York, New York, 212-833-4400): Sunbow Entertainment president C.J. Kettler has jumped over to join former Nickelodeon head Geraldine Laybourne at Oxygen Media. Kettler is now chief of sales and marketing at the women’s Web and TV production enterprise, and is joined by former CBS Cable executive Geoffrey Darby as president of production, Christina Ohly as VP creative development for Oxygen on-line and Giselle Benatar as executive producer of Oxygen.com. Benatar was formerly editor of Teen People on-line.
Pearson Television International (Santa Monica, California, 310-255-4700): Jonathan Rosenbaum has been promoted to the newly created position of director of production, and will oversee production of the new sci-fi series First Wave. Outside of Pearson, Rosenbaum has just completed The Pork, The Fork and the Man from New York, a children’s short film special set to air on Nickelodeon this spring.
Saban Entertainment (Los Angeles, California, 310-235-5100): Millo Antola is the new director of international licensing at Saban Enterprises International. Antola was formerly manager of international licensing and management.
Sega of America (Redwood City, California, 415-701-6000): Peter Moore has left Reebok to become senior VP of marketing at Sega of America. He will head marketing efforts behind the new Dreamcast console system set to launch this fall. Moore also has plans to target younger video game players with a new Sonic game.
Sony Computer Entertainment America (Foster City, California, 650-655-8000): Fifteen-year Sony veteran Kazuo Hirai has been named president and CEO of SCEA. He was formerly executive VP and COO, and was responsible for developing the PlayStation franchise in North America.
Sony Signatures (Los Angeles, California, 310-244-7788): Shelly Josias has been appointed manager of international licensing. Josias is responsible for Signatures’ international licensing and merchandising agents, spearheading film and TV promotions and acting as liaison with Columbia TriStar International Film and Home Video divisions. She was formerly a promotions and publicity consultant for Columbia TriStar Film Distributors International.
Sony Wonder (New York, New York, 212-833-8100): Annmarie Gatti has been named senior director of marketing at Sony Wonder/SMV. She was previously director of marketing. Debbie Lawrence is the new associate director of marketing, SMV, up from product manager.
3 Ring Circus (Hollywood, California, 323-957-3800): Broadcast design firm 3 Ring Circus has appointed Tom Connor as head of marketing and brand strategy. Connor was formerly senior VP, marketing and creative services for the domestic television division of Paramount Pictures.
Toys `R’ Us (Paramus, New Jersey, 201-262-7800): Mike Shannon has been upped from executive VP to president of the U.S. toy store division of Toys `R’ Us. The promotion comes in the wake of Bruce W. Krysiak’s resignation as COO and president.
Universal Studios (Universal City, California, 818-777-1000): Craig Kornblau has been appointed president of Universal Studios Home Video, where he is responsible for all aspects of North American video operations. His appointment is part of restructuring in the department, which saw the departure of exec VP Bruce Pfander. Kornblau named Kenneth Graffeo as senior VP of marketing. Graffeo was formerly senior VP of marketing at PolyGram Video. Over at the Universal Studios Consumer Products group, Lisa Berlin has been named senior VP, worldwide promotions. She will be focusing on securing global promotional partners for interactive properties and upcoming features such as The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas, Rocky and Bullwinkle and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
UPN (Los Angeles, California, 310-575-7000): Geoff Calnan is now exec VP, marketing at United Paramount Networks.
Walt Disney (Burbank, California, 818-560-8000): Mulan producer Pam Coats has been upped to senior VP of creative development at Walt Disney Feature Animation. She will be responsible for overseeing the development of creative work for animated features and shorts produced by the division.
The WB Television Network (Burbank, California, 818-977-5000): Bob Bibb and Lewis Goldstein have been named co-presidents of marketing. The duo was behind the marketing of such shows as Dawson’s Creek, Felicity and Charmed. Before joining The WB in 1994, the pair were VPs of creative marketing at Fox.
