Vancouver, Canada-based Mainframe Entertainment, in association with Toronto’s Alliance Atlantis, is relaunching the U.S. licensing program for the CGI-driven series ReBoot. Both companies are hoping to capitalize on the momentum they expect will be generated by ReBoot’s return to American television by signing a number of licensees across all major product categories, including toys, apparel and collectibles. Last December, Mainframe, the show’s producer, and Alliance Atlantis, which controls worldwide distribution, inked a two-year broadcast deal with Cartoon Network. In the spring, the kids cabler will begin airing all 39 episodes of the series, plus all of the shows that comprise the third season, which has yet to make it onto U.S. television screens. Originally, season one and two of ReBoot ran on ABC from 1994 to 1996, and was later syndicated by Claster Television in 1997. According to Nancy Parkinson-Bassett, director of merchandising and licensing at Alliance Atlantis, both companies plan to develop a worldwide licensing program for ReBoot later this year. Two licensees currently on board are Electronic Arts (interactive games) and PolyGram Video (home video).
