Woodland Hills, California-based manufacturer Applause recently signed a licensing deal with Warner Bros. granting it the rights to produce a line of plush and hard goods based on kids’ favorite crime-fighting series Scooby-Doo. In addition to creating plush figures of canine star Scooby, Shaggy, their groovy van the Mystery Machine and perrenial bad guy, the Creeper, Applause will develop Scooby-Doo-themed gift boxes, figural keychains, fun straws, decal mugs and cups for kids and commuters. Applause’s Scooby line of products is scheduled to hit mass and specialty stores in January 1999.

Applause has also extended its agreement with Warner Bros. for its Baby Looney Tunes line of merchandise, and inked a new deal with the itsy bitsy Entertainment Company to develop a wide range of product based on its Teletubbies property. Starting in January 1999, Applause will introduce Baby Looney Tunes-themed sound plush, plush rattles, chime balls, musical pull-downs, plush frames, and gift sets. Under the terms of the agreement with itsy bitsy, Applause will create Teletubbies-themed collectible vinyl magnets, interactive figurines, squirters, figural kids plates, cups and Sporks (a product that’s a combination spoon and fork). The Teletubbies merchandise will be sold at specialty and gift stores beginning next January.
