Golden Books has issued a number of new licenses for two of its oldest properties: Pat the Bunny and The Poky Little Puppy. Pat the Bunny will hop into licensing with Eden, which is set to create a line of soft toys for infants, including large and small plush, crib wrap and activity mats, security blankets, soft books, chime balls and activity toys. Swat-Fame will create a line of clothing available in upper- and mid-tier stores only, starting in the spring. Changes, a clothing manufacturer, is licensed to produce a number of sports-themed clothing and accessories for infants and toddlers, including T-shirts, sweatshirts and baseball caps. All of the clothes will feature the likeness of Pat or other characters from the popular series of books.
Golden Books is creating a new series of books based on the original 1942 children’s classic The Poky Little Puppy. The new books, which will hit stores this fall, take Poky and his friends into new territory, with updated storylines and more modern-looking artwork. For the first time, readers will learn the names of Poky’s brothers and sisters: Pub, Pattycake, Pickle and Peewee. To coincide with the new stories, Golden Books is launching a licensing blitz, which will see the manufacture of Poky videos, infant and children’s clothing by Eden; candy by American Specialty Confections; Christmas ornaments by Hallmark Cards; collectible dolls by Collectible Concepts; and the production of a theatrical tour by Tourven.
