– Golden Books building new home

Golden Books is consolidating the four separate facilities that it currently operates into a single location that will combine the company’s manufacturing and administrative operations. The new facility anchors the children’s book publisher in Racine County, Wisconsin, where it has been located since 1928. Ground will break this spring, with construction to be completed by the end of the year.

-Playmates picks up Mr. Men in U.S.

To coincide with the Mr. Men syndicated television series premiere in the U.S. later this year, Playmates Toys is introducing a Mr. Men line of products. The Mr. Men and Little Miss items will include plush toys, figurines, activity toys, puzzles, board games and role-playing games. The Mr. Men and Little Miss characters, enormously popular in the U.K. and other European territories, have sold approximately 110 million books.

-OmniMedia/Pangea partner for WMAC Masters CD

U.K.-based OmniMedia, a multimedia publisher that produces music and children’s CD-ROMs, is partnering with Pangea Corporation of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to develop a CD-ROM based on the WMAC Masters martial arts program for children. The disc will include profiles of each of the show’s characters and detailed how-to’s of their trademark moves. It will also cover the philosophy of the martial arts.

The title, scheduled for release late this year, is to be the first of several joint efforts between the two companies.

-Learning Company is in pleasant company with CD

Educational software producer The Learning Company, Inc. has teamed up with Pleasant Company, the creator of The American Girls Collection of dolls, books and accessories, to produce a CD-ROM based on the property. The software will be aimed at girls age seven to 12, and is scheduled for release this fall.
