Career at a glance:

– Graduated from Boston College with a BA in English and history.

– Joined Showtime/The Movie Channel and became director of program promotion. Developed promotional campaigns for The Honeymooners: The Lost Episodes (which won both CTAM and BPME awards, including one for Best Campaign).

– In 1988, joined Nickelodeon as the director of programming and oversaw program scheduling. Responsible for several specials including Cartoon Lost and Found and Tales from the Whoop starring Whoopi Goldberg.

– Appointed vice president of programming in 1990 and oversaw Nickelodeon’s expansion into new genres.

– Up to the present, has served as senior vice president of programming and executive vice president of Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite Network and U.S. Television. Engineered the development of Nicktoons and Nick Jr.

The new job:

– Appointed president of Nickelodeon and is responsible for all creative and business operations, both domestically and internationally, including all activities of Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, and the new network, Nick at Nite’s TV Land , due to launch in April 1996.

The challenge:

‘As president, I am determined to increase Nickelodeon’s presence domestically and around the world. Wherever there are kids, Nickelodeon will be there, too. On cable-tv, on-line, at the movies, in magazines, in stores and across frontiers we haven’t even discovered yet. My goal is to make Nickelodeon a more ubiquitous brand. Our mission, simply stated, is to connect kids to their world through entertainment.
