Barney Home Video, based in Richardson, Texas, is kicking off its largest batch of direct-to-home videos launched in a year with the release of Barney’s Talent Show later this month.
The 43-minute video features familiar cast members, as well as some newcomers, who put on a talent show. Three other videos will follow in May, August and November.
In total, the company has released 20 videos since 1988, most of which are episodes of the TV series. Its last direct-to-home video came out a year and a half ago.
Children age one to eight are the target audience for the videos, which will be sold in the U.S. and Canada in all major video and mass-market stores. Point-of-sale displays will promote the releases, as well as advertising in parenting magazines in the U.S. only, and an instant-win game.
