A nine-year old boy from Australia has been named the grand prize winner of Cartoon Network and Hewlett-Packard’s 2010 Toon Creator Awards, which received more than 160,000 animation submissions created by kids ages six to 14 across the Asia Pacific Region

Jack Munari’s short animation that combines characters from the Cartoon Network series Chowder earned him an HP digital home makeover valued at US$2000, a Cartoon Network Prize Pack and the opportunity to see his entry, titled Endive, broadcast on Cartoon Network.

The individual country winners, which include kids from India, the Philippines, Malaysia and Taiwan, each receive an HP TouchSmart PC and a Cartoon Network prize pack.

This year’s interactive contest saw the addition of a character creator function that allowed players to build personalized avatars using HP’s TouchSmart software. Kids were able to unlock special items to enhance their final animations, which helped attract more than 6.3 million page views and 800,000 unique visitors by the end of October 2010.For the duration of the contest, which launched in July, more than 1.3 million animations were viewed on the Toon Creator Awards website.
