This spring, Scholastic will re-launch K.A. Applegate’s Animorphs book series, the first of which was published in 1996 and spawned 54 books, two spin-off series and 10 companion books.

Scholastic plans to re-issue new paperback editions of the original books, with a lenticular cover, starting in May 2011 with Animorphs #1: The Invasion and Animorphs #2: The Visitor followed by Animorphs #3: The Encounter in July. Animorphs #4: The Message will hit stores in September followed by Animorphs #5: The Predator in December.

The books follow Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie and Marco, who can transform into any animal they touch. With these powers they become Animorphs who fight in a secret war for the planet. The Scholastic Media-produced Animorphs TV series was sold to 35 countries and aired on Nickelodeon in the US.
