Radio Disney and Disney Channel audiences have voted a Connecticut-based rock band called Kicking Daisies as the winner of Radio Disney’s N.B.T. (Next Big Thing).
Currently in its third season, the multi-platform program shines the spotlight on young recording artists and provides them with national broadcast and online exposure. The channel’s kid and tween audience voted for the Kicking Daisies, whose own members range in age from 14 to 17 years old, out of a total of five unsigned music artists via online or text.
The four-person rock band, which recently released a 10-song digital EP titled KD: The EP, will join radio host Ernie D in-studio for a Take Over airing this Friday. On Saturday, Kicking Daisies will open for Hollywood Records recording artist Allstar Weekend at Radio Disney’s concert Now Snowing Nightly event in Celebration, Florida. The band will also have their single (song TBD) featured on the Walt Disney Records’ Radio Disney Jams 13 CD.
Among the artists who have launched careers with a strong assist from Radio Disney are Selena Gomez, Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus.
