WarnerMedia has picked up French animation studio Je Suis Bien Content’s Roger from Paris-based distributor APC Kids.

An adventure comedy for kids ages six to nine, Roger will air on Boomerang in Australia, Southeast Asia and Taiwan starting in Q4 2021. The deal covers exclusive pay-TV rights and non-exclusive non-linear rights to the CG-animated series, which tags along with a little girl and a clumsy alien who have disastrous adventures on a tropical island.

The 78 x seven-minute series first premiered on France Télévisions in 2019, and APC Kids has since sold it to broadcasters including TV5 Québec (Canada), TV5 Monde (worldwide, excluding Europe), Česká Televize (Czech Republic), Jetsen Huashi (China), TVB (Hong Kong), Bein (MENA) and ETB (Spain).

WarnerMedia has been beefing up its local Boomerang slate since restructuring the APAC team. In April, Christopher Ho was hired to lead its kidsnets in the region, and Melissa Lim was brought in as head of content acquisitions and co-pros last month.
