Mattel’s American Girl brand is turning 25 and to celebrate the occasion the company is launching in-store events, limited-edition merchandise and a special cruise.

Since its first catalogue in 1986, American Girl has grown to sell more 20 million dolls and 135 million books that target preschool through tween-aged girls.

The year-long promotion includes 12 new collectible mini dolls, re-released American Girl deluxe DVDs and a birthday cruise that will set sail in November from Miami. The already sold-out Celebrity Cruise will feature performances, activities, and special events targeted at young fans.

Kicking things off, fans are now encouraged to share their favorite American Girl-inspired stories, supported with photos and videos at www.americangirl.com/stories.
