SEGA has selected Jakks Pacific as its global merchandise partner for upcoming Netflix series Sonic Prime.

As part of the deal, Jakks—which already had an agreement to design and markets toys for the popular Sonic brand—will produce action figures, playsets and vehicles based on the new animated show.

Set to premiere on Netflix later this year, the new CGI series Sonic Prime has 24 x 22 episodes planned and is geared at six to 11s. A launch date for the new merchandise had not been confirmed at press time. WildBrain’s Vancouver studio is handling animation on the new series, which will follow along as Sonic the Hedgehog uses his super-speed to save a strange new multiverse.

Jakks first started working on Sonic toys for SEGA in 2019, in the lead-up to the release of CG/live-action film Sonic the Hedgehog (pictured) in 2020. A sequel is expected to bow this spring.
