Just two weeks after acquiring UK-based prodco A Productions, Cyber Group Studios (Gigantosaurus) has bought a majority stake in Italian animation studio Graphilm Entertainment.

Graphilm founder and CEO Maurizio Forestieri (pictured left) will continue to lead the company with executive producer Anna Lucia Pisanelli (pictured right).

Cyber Group and Graphilm are already co-producing two animated kids series together—action-comedy Alex Player, which has been commissioned by France Télévisions and Italian pubcaster RAI, and a new 2D-animated show called In the Middle. And they previously collaborated on RAI’s Pulcinella Award-winning animated series Nefertine on The Nile.

This latest Cyber Group acquisition will help it expand its production capabilities to meet international demand for animation. And it also supports the company’s strategic plan to export its real-time animation projects, such as Alex Player, to other countries. For Graphilm, Cyber Group’s backing will enable it to produce more original content and cement its position as a top animation studio in Italy.

Cyber Group currently has 10 series in production and 10 in development, spanning all age groups from preschool to young adults. Worldwide, it now has studios in France, the US, the UK and Italy, along with strategic partners based in Russia and China.
