A trio of broadcasters have pre-bought a new live-actioner called Silverpoint from Zodiak Kids and Family UK.
Canal+ (France), Hulu (US) and ABC Australia all picked up the 13 x 22-minute sci-fi adventure series, which CBBC and German broadcaster ZDF ordered last year. Targeting tweens, Silverpoint revolves around four kids at a summer camp whose lives are changed when they discover something buried in the woods. CBBC and BBC iPlayer will premiere the series on March 6, amd the international broadcasters plan to roll it out this summer.
Lee Walters wrote the scripts, with Dan Zeff directing and Trevor Klein producing. And Benoit Di Sabatino and Steven Andrew are executive producers on the project. ZDF will handle distribution rights in Germany and Austria, and German-speaking rights in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and the Italian regions of Alto and Adige. Zodiak Kids and Family Distribution is selling the series everywhere else.
Zodiak’s kids division recently brought in former BBC Children’s content head Cheryl Taylor as creative director, and closed new broadcast deals with Gulli and Discovery Kids LatAm for its revived 2D-animated series Totally Spies!. It also picked up distribution rights to sister company Tiger Aspect Kids & Family’s TV adaptation of children’s book What the Ladybird Heard late last fall.
