New York-based production and distribution company 41 Entertainment has secured the global television and home video rights from FitzRoy Media to the HeathCliff – Bad Kitty CGI film.

The 72-minute film, based on the comic strip HeathCliff created by George Gately in 1973, is produced by L.A.-based Magic Lantern Studios and is slated for delivery in October 2011 in English and in December 2011 in Castilian Spanish, Latin Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil) and Italian. An all-new HeathCliff TV series (52 x 11-minutes) is also in development for 2013 and discussions continue surrounding the development of a live action/CGI feature film slated for summer 2013.

41e will handle global television and home video distribution of the film and series in all forms and venues outside of the US. The film will be launched in the US on the McDonald’s TV network, which will reach roughly 2,500 US restaurant locations by November 2011.

41e envisions launching the film in primetime on major broadcasters worldwide followed by the home video release and the full- series release worldwide in multiple languages the following year.
