It looks like the title ‘super-geek consultant’ is making its way into the book world, as Oxford University math professor Marcus du Sautoy is taking on the moniker for Lauren Child’s latest children’s book series, Ruby Redfort.

Acquired by HarperCollins UK in 2009, Ruby Redfort is based on a genius code-cracker, a detective and a gadget-laden special agent who happens to be a 13-year-old girl. The literary character made her first appearance in Child’s (pictured) Clarice Bean series, which has sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide

The first book in the new Ruby Redfort series, Look into my Eyes, will kick off the sequence in October. HarperCollins will publish an enhanced eBook at the same time that will include integrated quizzes and puzzles.

As a consultant for the Ruby Redfort series, du Sautoy has helped to create the advanced math codes used in the books as well as supply puzzles, math questions and logic challenges.
