London-based Jetpack Distribution has acquired nearly-global rights to Mimi’s World (40 x 11 minutes), and will sell the preschool series everywhere except the UK.
The mixed-media show premiered there earlier this year on Channel 5’s Milkshake! block. Mimi’s World features a live-action adult who cares for a group of children in her top-floor apartment. She routinely seeks advice from CG-animated characters like wise African elephant Mama Tembo and friendly Chinese unicorn Youyou. And occasionally, Mimi and the kids transport themselves through magic portals to meet other 2D-animated characters.
Adastra Development produces the series with financial support from Northern Ireland Screen and the UK Government’s Young Audiences Content Fund (managed by the British Film Institute).
Keeping Mimi’s World company in Jetpack’s preschool catalogue is CBeebies series Biff and Chip (25 x 11 minutes), which the distributor picked up in May.
