UK-based children’s prodco Darrall Macqueen has landed a commission from CBeebies to produce original comedy series Magic Baby (26 x 11 minutes).
The preschool series, which marks the first collaboration between Darrall Macqueen and Ireland’s JAM Media, mixes live-action and 2-D photographic animation and revolves around the adventures of a baby named Jake.
The youngest of 10 children, Jake lives in a windmill where he’s a happy gurgling boy who sings, dances and chats with his animal friends Quin the Penguin, Sydney the Monkey, Nibbles the Rabbit and the Hamsternauts.
The series was commissioned for CBeebies by controller Kay Benbow. It will be produced by Maddy Darrall and executive produced by Billy Macqueen for Darrall Macqueen and Sarah Colclough for CBeebies. The animation director is JAM Media’s Alan Shannon.
