Federation Studios (previously Federation Entertainment) has acquired Parisian animation house GO-N Productions (Zip Zip).
The deal brings GO-N under the global Federation umbrella, where it joins 34 other companies including Cottonwood Media (Paris), Vertigo Films (London) and Drama Team (Tel Aviv). The value of the sale was not disclosed.
GO-N co-founder Eric Garnet (pictured left) is looking forward to the next chapter of growth, and says Federation’s expertise in sales is a major asset. “Joining Federation is going to help us be much more efficient in the distribution field.”
Since Garnet and partner Anne de Galard (pictured right) launched the company in 2004, GO-N has built up a catalogue of 11 kids shows, including flagship book-based series Simon Super Rabbit, which has amassed more than seven million subscribers and three billion views on YouTube.
GO-N’s titles will significantly strengthen Federation’s kids and family catalogue, and the plan is to keep building these IPs out, says Garnet. “Especially with Simon, we’re not only [looking at] international sales and digital content, but also licensing and merchandising.”
GO-N just took home a Producer of the Year Cartoon Tribute award from Cartoon Forum 2023 last week in Toulouse, and Garnet is always on the lookout for new concepts with potential for development. The company is currently focused on creating animation for its core preschool and six to nine audiences—including its first-ever CG-animated series—but it also has a new show targeting older kids in development.
