Hasbro is rolling out a new Transformers toy range to retailers worldwide this summer, leading into the September 20 theatrical debut of CG-animated family feature film Transformers One

Product drops kicked off last week with a new movie-inspired Optimus Prime action figure in Hasbro’s long-running Studio Series line hitting shelves. The toyco will follow this lead SKU up in August with a pair of toys for Bumblebee and Prime that transform from wearable role-play masks into action figures.

The tie-in toy line will also include an assortment of Mega Changer (11-inch) and Prime Changer (five-inch) figures for preschoolers that feature simplified transformations the brand’s youngest fans can manage in just a few easy steps.

Transformers One retells the origin stories of Optimus and Megatron for a new generation. It’s produced by Hasbro’s entertainment division in association with Industrial Light & Magic and Paramount, which is distributing the film.

The franchise’s latest feature Transformers: Rise of the Beasts grossed US$439 million at the global box office last year, more than doubling its production budget of US$200 million. However, it’s considered the least successful movie so far since it came up short against both 2018’s Bumblebee (US$468 million) and 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight (US$602 million).
