Spanish prodco Imira Entertainment has teamed with Rome-based FLY Distribuzione TV to sign a major deal with Italy’s Rai 2 and Rai Gulp channels for Latin American teen live-action series Karkú.
This marks the first European deal for Karkú (76 x 26-minutes ), which is produced by Chilean company My Friend Entertainment in co-production with Televisión Nacional de Chile. Imira repsthe property in Europe. Karkú currently airs Nickelodeon Latin America, TVN in Chile, Ecuavisa, Señal Colombia and Televisa in Mexico as well as on Spanish-speaking channel Sopresa in the US. The series follows the adventures of 13-year old Emilia as she is sent to live in Santiago by her parents.
Imira, meanwhile, has scored a number of additional European sales across its animation slate. Ireland’s TG4 and Switzerland’s Italian speaking public channel RSI have picked up free TV rights to Sandra The Fairytale Detective (52 x 13-minutes).
