Guiby the Super Baby goes to Télé-Québec

EXCLUSIVE: Epic Storyworlds will also release its latest series in English on YouTube, and a companion Roblox game is in development.

Télé-Québec has greenlit a new 2D-animated series called Guiby the Super Baby (15 x seven minutes) from Quebec-based Epic Storyworlds.

The regional Canadian broadcaster will premiere a French-language version of the toon for seven- to 12-year-olds sometime in 2025. Epic also plans to release the episodes in English on YouTube, and it’s working on building a Roblox experience set in the rich fantasy world of the show.

Even though Guiby is a toddler, he’s much more than that. Guiby is immune to fear and can channel his courage into powerful energy blasts. This power comes in handy because Guiby and his friends have a habit of encountering strange happenings while playing during the day—situations that require them to investigate at night when all the adults are soundly sleeping. As Guiby and his pals, including Ramirez the clever rat, Gruffus the kind-hearted monster, Maddie the resourceful friend, and her clumsy rabbit Romeo, explore dark alleys, sewers and woods, the monsters grow stronger and stronger, feeding off of the fear they trigger in other people. During every nighttime monster hunt, Guiby and his team rely on clever teamwork to survive the thrilling encounters, along with the occasional comedic mishap.

The series is an adaptation of a comic book collection created by French-Canadian children’s author/illustrator Sampar (real name Samuel Parent). Michel Quintin Editions published all six titles in the series for kids ages eight and up, the first of which came out in 2013.

The IP’s Quebec roots and scary edge were what appealed to Télé-Québec, says Marysol Charbonneau, the broadcaster’s director of youth and family content. Subsidiary Epic Story Distribution is handling worldwide sales, and Epic Storyworld is also exploring international co-production deals to make additional episodes beyond this initial order.

Canada Media Fund, Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles (SODEC), Shaw Rocket Fund and City of Quebec have all supported this project with funding.
