Big Tent Entertainment, the North American licensing agent for the Miffy and Friends brand, has inked a deal with Keenway Industries to produce a line of Miffy-branded preschool toys.

The new line, launching this fall, will include tea sets, medical and doctor kits and figurines.

Now in her 55th year, the literary character has been the subject of international museum exhibits, contests and promotions, and shows no signs of slowing down with an upcoming Wii videogame and feature film.

She first appeared in children’s books written and illustrated by Dutch artist Dick Bruna. Since then, the brand has generated more than one billion dollars in related products sold. Netherlands-based Mercis owns the copyright to Miffy and Friends and is the brand’s worldwide licensor with more than 250 licensees.
