Dublin-based StoryToys has partnered with the LEGO Group and BBC Studios to develop the first LEGO and Bluey crossover mobile game.
LEGO Bluey rolls out onto major app stores today, including the Apple App Store and Google Play. In the free-to-play game, players ages four and up take Bluey and her family through four different themed settings, such as going to the beach, cleaning around the house, going to a tea party in the garden and going for a drive.
Each level is modeled after the real-life LEGO Bluey building sets and features a range of problem-solving challenges for kids to complete using digital blocks, minifigures and vehicles. StoryToys will also support the game post-launch by adding more content and settings in future updates to keep the experience fresh for returning players.
This crossover builds on a multi-year licensing agreement signed by LEGO and BBC Studios in January to adapt Bluey into new brick forms. The first five SKUs rolled out to retailers worldwide in June, including two editions of the blue heeler pup’s family house—one for younger kids, and another for more experienced builders.
StoryToys has developed several branded LEGO mobile titles since partnering with the Danish brick-maker in 2018. Some of these include LEGO Duplo World, LEGO Duplo Marvel and LEGO Duplo Peppa Pig, which all share similar mechanics to teach kids problem-solving skills and foster their creativity.
This is just the latest licensing announcement for the preschool megahit Bluey. The show, which is the biggest overall streaming series in the US, recently spawned four spin-off short-form series and has revealed its plans to expand into a lifestyle brand for teens and adults.
