The ways to get to Sesame Street just keep multiplying. Canadian AVOD service Kidoodle.TV has signed a deal with Sesame Workshop to acquire more than 20 hours of Sesame Street content, which it plans to start rolling out on a weekly basis on September 11.
Kidoodle.TV now has the rights to stream hundreds of pieces of content from the series—including songs, animations and short-form clips—in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. This programming will also be featured in the platform’s Teachers’ Corner, which offers educational resources to elementary school teachers.
The acquisition is a significant milestone for Kidoodle.TV, according to chief content officer Brenda Bisner. Being one of the few partners streaming all of these clips elevates its value with kids and parents, she says, and it’s a big vote of confidence from Sesame Workshop. “By bringing the beloved world of Sesame Street to our platform, we’re honoring its legacy of supporting children everywhere,” Bisner adds, “while ensuring today’s kids can experience that same magic in a safe, trusted environment.”
After its output deal with HBO Max wound down at the end of last year, the Workshop has been busy setting up a number of partnerships to put its beloved show in front of more young viewers. Netflix and PBS struck a deal in May to be the homes for new Sesame Street episodes. And just last week, Sesame announced that YouTube would begin streaming hundreds of classic episodes of the series.
In addition to today’s big Sesame Street news, Kidoodle.TV picked up more than 800 episodes of Mattel content last summer. And the company is looking for more “brands that care” to add to its library, Bisner says.
