- 9 Story Distribution International has acquired global rights (excluding Australia and New Zealand) to ABC Australia’s breakout series Do Not Watch This Show (pictured). An adaptation of bestselling book series Do Not Open This Book, Lee Bones Productions’ 2D-animated comedy focuses on a blue monster who tries absurd tactics to sabotage his show and convince kids to stop watching. ABC premiered the 12 x 11-minute series in July, and it has racked up more than 115 million minutes of watch time. The pubcaster renewed the show for a second season last week.
- CAKE is entering the fantasy world of Wonderstorm’s 2D/CG-animated series The Dragon Prince, adding the seven-season action-adventure title to its distribution catalogue. The Dragon Prince originally premiered on Netflix, telling the story of two human princes who team up with an elven assassin to return a dragon egg to its mother. Aimed at kids 10 and up, the 63 x 22-minute series has since expanded into toys and a board game. This deal also covers spinoff series The Dragon King, which Wonderstorm is crowdfunding now (until October 16) on Kickstarter. The goal of the campaign was to raise US$250,000, which it accomplished in under five hours. The tally is currently up to US$800,000.
- Monster Entertainment has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Sir Mouse, a co-pro between Fabrique Fantastique and Avalon Films. This 2D-animated comedy (52 x 11 minutes) has two seasons and a Christmas special. Based on the Mouse & Dragon book series by Dirk Nielandt and Marjolein Pottie, Sir Mouse is about the medieval quests of a short-tempered mouse and her gentle friend Dragon. It’s aimed at kids ages five to eight. Ketnet (Belgium) and RTÉ (Ireland) commissioned the series, and ABC Australia, NRK (Norway) and KiKA (Germany) are among the broadcasters that have acquired season one.
- Yearling Spanish animation distributor Siesta Entertainment has signed a streaming deal in Kazakhstan with new SVOD Unico Play for Siesta’s flagship 2D-animated series Black Moth. Aimed at the seven to 12 set, this series (which has 20 x 11-minute and 10 x 22-minute versions) is about a tween musician whose music transforms her into an environmental superhero charged with protecting nature. Season one is completed, and Siesta is raising the remaining 50% for season two. Siesta is also making another series for Unico Play—an original YA series called Target (26 x 22 minutes) about teens at an elite school who start receiving messages predicting disasters.
- Singapore’s Mediacorp has greenlit a second season of Omens Studios’ CG-animated preschool series Paula & Pals. Delivering in late 2026, the new 30 x seven-minute season will focus on two kids who have to deal with technology when it goes awry, like 3D printers that make cakes and apple-picking robots.
