Teddy Mountain inks Fraggle Rock DIY plush deal

EXCLUSIVE: The new products will roll out in several major markets worldwide.
October 16, 2025

Teddy Mountain, the growing provider of build-your-own plush, has inked a global merchandising agreement with The Jim Henson Company to create and distribute a Fraggle Rock plush line.

The toyco will roll out both fully stuffed and DIY plush based on the brand sometime in late 2026 to mass market and specialty retailers in North America, UK, EU, the Emirates and LatAm.

Fraggle Rock, a 40-year-old series, is a music-filled comedy about a group of colorful subterranean creatures that were portrayed by puppets. It went on to span five seasons (96 episodes), and today The Jim Henson Company aims to capitalize on nostalgia for the ’80s series with live events, licensed products and new content. Last year, the company hired former Sesame Street and Avenue Q puppeteer John Tartaglia as creative supervisor to help lead the brand’s growth.

Plush is a fitting move for this series, since kids can make their own versions of the show’s puppet characters. Plus, the global market for the plush category is projected to rise from US$10.2 billion in 2024 to US$19.8 billion by the end of 2034, according to research company Fact.MR.

Teddy Mountain—a 22-year-old company that started out as a retailer and has become a wholesaler that sells pre-stuffed plush, DIY plush-making kits and licensed apparel and accessories—seems to be benefiting from this market growth, as it has attracted several licensing partners in the last year. In April it teamed up with CloudCo to release DIY Care Bears plush in the UK and UAE, and in September it signed a deal with Haylett Entertainment to make plush for its CG-animated special Piney: The Lonesome Pine. And last year, it signed US deals with Zoonicorn (August 2024) and Canticos (November 2024).
