Netflix has acquired the live-action series Hollywood Arts, a spin-off of Nickelodeon’s Victorious.

The series, produced by Paramount Television Studios, will debut on Netflix next year, with Nickelodeon and Paramount+ airing it after.

In the 26-episode series, a struggling actress returns to her former high school as an unqualified substitute teacher and ends up inspiring a new generation of students on their path to entering the arts. The main character is the older sister of the main character in Victorious, a comedy series that aired on Nick from 2010 to 2013.

Victorious was a top series among kids in multiple demos on Nickelodeon, and focused on a girl studying performing arts at the Hollywood Arts high school. All episodes of Victorious are available to view on Netflix in the US. Since the beginning of 2024, Victorious has drawn more than 45 million views on the streamer, according to Netflix.

Kidscreen confirmed that Nickelodeon was developing this sequel series back in February.

Nickelodeon’s Shauna Phelan, EVP of live action series and film, and Brian Banks, executive in charge of production, are overseeing production, which will begin this month in Vancouver.
