American department store chain Macy’s is readying its lineup of giant balloons and jaw-dropping floats for the 99th edition of its famous Thanksgiving Day Parade. 

Eleven newcomers are confirmed so far to join this year’s parade, which is enjoyed in person by more than 3.5 million people in New York City and by upwards of 50 million viewers at home each year, according to the retailer. Macy’s is planning to go even bigger this year, following a 10% increase in linear viewership and a 26% spike in views on Peacock for the 2024 parade. 

Here are some of the new and returning attractions lined up to kick off the holiday season on November 27: 

Big-name balloons: Nintendo’s Mario, Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear and the cast of Shrek will debut as four-story-tall balloons this year. And the parade will also include rebooted renditions of classic Macy’s original parade characters Greybow Trout, Rainbow Trout and Wigglefoot. 

Returning inflatables: Preschool TV mega-stars Bluey, Gabby and Marshall (PAW Patrol) are ready to march the parade route again, alongside 29 other balloons, including anime veterans Pikachu and Eevee (Pokémon), Goku (Dragon Ball) and Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece). 

New floats popping up: Chinese collectibles retailer Pop Mart is making its parade debut with a Friends-Giving in Popcity float that will feature two 16-foot-tall Labubu balloons and other original characters Skullpanda, Molly, Peach Riot and Duckoo. Not to be outdone, mattress manufacturer Serta will debut a Dream Generator float, and Holland America cruise line is in the mix this year with an Alaska-inspired attraction called The Land of Ice and Wonder. 

Street-level spectacle: A group of 20 returning floats are ready to roll through Manhattan on Turkey Day, including Haribo’s Candy Cosmos, Dora the Explorer’s Fantastical Rainforest, Camp Snoopy and 1-2-3 Sesame Street. 

Bringing it all together: While the headline performers and marching bands are still under wraps, Macy’s has revealed that 33 clown crews, four specialty units and three “balloonicles” will be on hand to keep the crowd hyped up throughout the parade.
