Italian animation studio Graphilm Entertainment has regained full ownership of its company following Cyber Group Studios’ liquidation, and it has also recovered its stake in an upcoming animated series called McFire Family.
Cyber Group acquired a majority stake in Graphilm in 2022 after the two companies worked together to produce Nefertine on The Nile. Following Cyber Group’s liquidation and a recent auction to sell off its assets, Graphilm was able to restore its ownership and can now operate as a fully independent studio again.
Graphilm has also taken over Cyber Group’s stake in McFire Family, a CG-animated series about a family that uses high-tech gadgets to fight fires and save the day. RAI Kids (Italy) commissioned the project, which is in production on season one now.
Lastly, Graphilm is starting its next chapter with the ink still drying on another new contract—a presale deal with RAI Kids for season two of Nefertine on the Nile (with RAI Com picking up worldwide distribution rights). Season two is a co-pro with CGS in Tunisia and RAI Kids. Season one has already been acquired by broadcasters including RTP (Portugal), MTVA (Hungary) and Mediacorp (Singapore). The series follows a young girl’s adventures in ancient Egypt.
