Kaito Entertainment secures Baby Einstein streaming deals
The distributor has inked deals with multiple SVOD/AVOD platfroms for Hello Einstein Studios’ catalogue of Baby Einstein preschool series, including one with Netflix. The streamer acquired 2D-animated shows Ocean Explorer (six x 25 minutes) and Closer Look (10 x 25 minutes) for territories including the US, Canada, France and India. Launch dates are set for February (Ocean Explorer) and March (Closer Look). The Middle East’s ejunior; Youku, Tencent and iQIYI in China; and Kidoodle.TV (worldwide) also picked up Closer Look, Farm Explorers (pictured), Ocean Explorers and Baby Einstein’s Classic Catalogue video collection.
CAKE to distribute kids movie Groundhog Gary internationally
Illinois-based nonprofit production company Fresh Films’ new film Groundhog Gary: Six More Weeks has attracted CAKE as an international distributor (excluding the US and Canada). This 80-minute live-action feature is a comedy about an 11-year-old boy who kidnaps his town’s groundhog to stop it from announcing the end of winter because he’s worried his parents will get divorced when the season changes. The pic just wrapped production, and Cookbook Media is distributing it in the US and Canada.
Hasbro joins the battle with a Street Fighter licensing deal
Legendary Entertainment has granted the toyco a license to create action figures, toys and collectibles based on an upcoming live-action film adaptation that is slated to hit theaters on October 16. Hasbro’s long history of making products for Street Fighter dates back to the ’90s. The IP is “one of the most influential video games of all time,” said president of toy, licensing and entertainment Tim Kilpin in a release.
Studiocanal Kids & Family strikes a Lush Paddington deal
The cosmetics manufacturer and retailer has partnered with Paddington’s brand owner to roll out limited-edition products including a body wash and a bubble bar (that creates bubbles when dropped in water) inspired by the iconic bear. They’ll be available in Lush stores and online for just a few days (February 9 to 12).
