Scopely is continuing to bolster its mobile games portfolio by acquiring a majority stake in Istanbul-based developer Loom Games, the creator of the breakout original puzzle game Pixel Flow!.
This is a changeup from Scopely’s normal M&A strategy, which in the past has focused on picking up studios that already publish licensed video games. Some of these notable purchases include Niantic’s games division (Pokémon GO) last year, Tag Games (Angry Birds Action) in 2023, FoxNext Games (Marvel Strike Force) in 2020 and Digit Game Studios (Star Trek Fleet Command) in 2019.
Loom was formed in 2025 and launched Pixel Flow! that same year in August, and the title has since amassed more than 10 million plays across all app stores. The core gameplay of Pixel Flow! puts players in control of a rotating conveyor belt where they must place colored piggies that shoot balls to break up pixel bricks and clear the level. Despite being a free-to-play title, Loom says the game makes more than US$1 million a day through in-game microtransactions and ad revenue.
Following the purchase, Loom has become the latest Turkish startup to achieve unicorn status (a valuation above US$1 billion). Studio co-founders Kübra Gündoğan and Emre Çelik will stay on board to lead the 20-person company and Pixel Flow!‘s development, while Scopely plans to support the developer by scaling the game into a franchise.
While Scopely hasn’t commented on how it plans to expand the IP yet, Pixel Flow! is shaping up to be a platform ripe for licensing opportunities. Scopely is renowned for forming game collabs with major partners like Disney (Star Wars, Marvel), Paramount (Jurassic World), Warner Bros. (Looney Tunes), Mattel (Barbie, Masters of the Universe) and McDonald’s, adding brand-themed events, levels and in-game purchases to titles like its multiplayer battle royale game Stumble Guys.
According to the California-based app analytics firm Sensor Tower, Scopely is the world’s second-largest mobile game publisher, having generated more than US$2.99 billion in 2024, only surpassed by Tencent (US$8.2 billion). The Hasbro-licensed title Monopoly Go! accounts for the bulk of its annual take at US$2.47 billion, driven by several partner events with Harry Potter, Star Wars and Marvel.
