Today’s Gold Star goes to the Reading Rainbow reboot

Readers felt the producers behind this bulked-up revival had the best week in the biz!
March 2, 2026

With PBS member stations in the US still reeling after all of their federal funding was cut last year, the revival of Buffalo Toronto Public Media’s Reading Rainbow couldn’t come at a better time. Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Embassy Row, this reboot started as a miniseries on YouTube, where it built up enough traction to warrant a full 24-episode commitment—a big win for kids literacy, public media and viewers like you.

You can read what we wrote about this winning initiative—as well as runners-up Disney, Gristmill, Jakks Pacific and Paramountright here.
