Last year, Kidscreen spotlighted six YouTube creators that had the potential to break out and become big names—and a few of our selections, like Mark Rober and Salish Matter, have since really taken off. Now, we’re turning this into a regular feature, where we highlight creators who could become the next Ms. Rachel or MrBeast. So if you’re looking for hot creators to partner with or want a sense of what channels kids are watching, we’ve got you covered.
Name: Jaime Amor/Cosmic Kids Yoga
Subscribers: 1.93 million
Total views: 508 million
Year of launch: 2012
Subgenres: Yoga, meditation, mindfulness
Target age: Preschool
Meet Jaime Amor, the yoga teacher who’s built a big preschool audience on YouTube with her mindfulness, meditation and exercise videos.
Tapping into the continued interest in mindfulness and exercise that emerged during the pandemic, Amor introduces kids to yoga and encourages them to get moving.
With a Ms. Rachel vibe, Amor turns doing yoga into fun story-driven adventures. She’s done numerous branded yoga/mindfulness videos, including for Super Mario, My Little Pony and Encanto. In December 2023, a branded video with Paramount promoting the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem raked in more than 3.8 million views.
Video highlight:
A recent vid she released on March 10 combined movement and exercise with kids’ perennial prehistoric love: dinosaurs. That video already has more than 27,000 views. And she’s also starting to drop live streams.
She launched the Cosmic Kids Yoga app in 2023, which features yoga and mindfulness videos, as well as some exclusive content. She’s also done Cameo videos for kids and schools and taken part in live events.
Amor’s success is starting to stretch beyond YouTube. In the past 18 months, Sky Kids greenlit the series Jaime’s Yoga Adventures (80 x 15 minutes) and Jaime’s Treetop Tales (20 x five minutes), produced by Amor’s company Cosmic Kids and Banijay’s Zodiak Kids & Family. Yoga Adventures focuses on Amor and a crew of animated animal besties, while Treetop Tales sees the yoga teacher use songs and pretend play to turn everyday objects into fun adventures. Both series premiered on Sky Kids and the streaming service NOW last year.
And she just secured a deal with Baby Shark owner Pinkfong to create a video for the Bebfinn series. Titled “The Big Yoga Easter Egg Hunt,” the episode launches April 3 on Bebefinn’s YouTube channel (35.6 million subscribers). It features Amor and Bebefinn on a playful Easter-themed yoga adventure that gets kids moving as they join a search for eggs.
Expert insight
Former KidsKnowBest exec Pete Robinson, an experienced media consultant and researcher who now runs his own company Gone With, weighs in on why Cosmic Kids Yoga has breakout potential:
Cosmic Kids Yoga works because it’s doing a job for parents: helping kids burn energy in a way that actually leaves them calmer afterwards. It’s active and engaging but not overstimulating like an increasing amount of kids’ YouTube.
The key difference is guided participation. Kids are being led through something with a clear outcome, which is really satisfying for kids (and adults, for that matter). Parents actively choose it as screen time, so repeat viewing is about effectiveness.
You can see through the volume of subs, minutes viewed, regular content drops and growth that it is built for engagement and not just views. They schedule effectively, with popular IPs, but also tackle bedtime routine, mindfulness and topics like “why are some people mean”—so they are mixing IPs to tell stories with real-world challenges that kids and parents face.
Most creators compete for attention. Cosmic Kids competes on outcome, and that’s what gives it breakout potential.
