Another platform adds Sesame Street
Free AVOD Tubi has struck a one-year pact to pick up select episodes from the first 38 seasons of Sesame Street. The deal will cover 250 episodes in total, with 10% of the catalogue being refreshed every quarter. It’s a way for Sesame Workshop’s flagship series to add another access point to its catalogue (in addition to PBS, YouTube, Netflix and Kidoodle.TV) while Tubi gets to double down on its nostalgia-driven kids strategy—having picked up Looney Tunes and Cartoon Network classics in recent months.
Henson wants more eyeballs on YouTube
The Jim Henson Company is moving to grow its channels @JimHensonCompany (1.97 million subs) and @HensonFamilyHub (198,000 subs) with help from YouTube strategy expert VIEWED. Under their new deal, VIEWED will support subscriber growth efforts, increasing discoverability and engagement while boosting revenue through strategic monetization initiatives.
The Beeb expands in Turkey
BBC Studios and CosmoBlue Media are building on their previously announced partnership with the launch of a Cosmo EN channel in Turkey. Additionally, BBC Player has just launched in the region, integrated onto the Cosmo GO app. Intended to bring more of the broadcaster’s programming to audiences in MENA, Cosmo EN will include kids shows like Go Jetters and Grace’s Amazing Machines among other genres.
Asmodee brings a traditional Mexican game to English-language markets
An iconic Mexican game is going wide with its first-ever bilingual edition. Originating in 1887, Lotería—a bingo-style game that’s played with cards—has remained popular in Latino households. The new edition with Spanish and English is distributed by Asmodee and licensed by Dreamstar Farms. The game has launched at major North American retailers, including Walmart, Target, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Toonz FAST channel will expand in APAC
Toonz Media Group is launching a dedicated FAST channel on LG Electronics smart TVs. It has already launched in India and will soon expand to other key regions in APAC, including Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, before hitting up more markets in the West. The channel MyToonz will include shows like Zoonicorn, Gummy Bear and Friends, Darwin & Newts, Tenali Raman and Hanuman.
First Line gets a second season in Sweden
GoldBee has sold a second season of First Line to SVT in Sweden, which will start rolling out new episodes of the tween/teen live-action series next week. It’s been a little over a year since SVT had picked up season one of the Canadian series produced by Montreal’s Avanti-Toast, which follows a star female hockey player who joins an all-boys team.
