Today’s tweens are more ecologically aware than ever, and kids companies are ramping up their efforts to match that passion for biodiversity, sustainability and compassion for wildlife on screen. Here are some of the biggest Earth Month releases to watch out for:

Disney

The Mouse House has a strong track record of eventizing this month, and this year is no different. Disney Channel will air nature-themed episodes of Big City Greens, Kiff, Phineas and Ferb, Hamster & Gretel and Primos. Meanwhile, preschool viewers can expect to see interstitials about the environment from Nat Geo Kids on Disney Jr. And right on time for Earth Day (April 22), Disney+ will launch the documentary Orangutan with narration by Disney regular Josh Gad. Made for family viewing, this Disneynature film follows a young orangutan in the rainforests of Southeast Asia.

Netflix

Right at the tail end of Earth Month (May 1), the streamer will launch Skydance’s latest animated kids film Swapped (pictured). Recent Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan leads the voice cast of this comedy, in which a woodland creature and a majestic bird learn to overcome their differences after swapping bodies. Meanwhile, for the slightly older teen crowd, the streamer will mark Earth Day with a six-episode laugh-driven docuseries called This Is a Gardening Show, in which Zach Galifianakis interviews kids and experts about plants and foods.

PBS KIDS

Drawing on its many ecological and educational series, PBS KIDS will drop timely new episodes of Wild Kratts, Cyberchase and Elinor Wonders Why throughout April, tackling themes like recycling and endangered plants. Keeping nature appreciation alive through the end of the month, the pubcaster will also kick off May with Wowsabout, a 22-minute special from The Jim Henson Company about a puppet pig and hedgehog finding awe all around Sequoia National Park. And on digital, PBS KIDS has set up an Earth Month playlist to spotlight more of its eco-content.

YouTube

Speaking of digital, a green franchise is getting a boost on YouTube. As part of the Earth Month celebration, Wind Sun Sky’s content will get some homepage promotion on YouTube Kids from April 6 to 20, including the studio’s vertical, 2D reinvention of its climate-focused IP, Future Chicken. This new series, called Micro Mysteries, is using techniques pioneered by microdramas to tell the eco-friendly tale of its plucky protagonist in the form of snappy, cliffhanger-based shorts.
