BBC Worldwide Australia has appointed Australian television vet Deirdre Brennan as the director of television for its Channels business.
Brennan will be responsible for production, programming, acquisitions, on-air promotions and presentation for BBC Worldwide’s portfolio of channels within Australasia: UKTV and UKTV NZ, BBC Knowledge and CBeebies. She joins the company on August 25.
Brennan moves over from the post of director of programming at Nickelodeon Australia. Under her leadership, the network twice won ASTRA’s Channel of the Year (2007, 2009). Prior to Nick, she was ABC Kids Programmer at the country’s national broadcaster. Brennan is also a member of the International Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences.
She’s replacing Brendan Dahill, who will leave BBC Worldwide on August 5.
