NVCP inks slew of new licensing deals across the globe

The team at Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products has been busy on the international front, signing new deals in Europe and South Africa.

For Germany, Austria and Switzerland, long-term licensing partner Simba Toys has renewed the license on a range of SpongeBob SquarePants summer and outdoor toys, including bodyboards, water squirters and sprinklers, wind-up boats and fishing games. Retail distribution channels will include specialty outlets, department stores and online retailers.

Dora the Explorer, meanwhile, has been snapped up by Industrial Juguetera in Spain and Portugal for a range of battery-powered outdoor riding toys, including bikes, scooters, tricycles and cars, as well as play tents.

Further Iberian deals include SpongeBob SquarePants-branded travelling and picnic ware with melamine from NV Corporacion l.

In addition, a partnership with Spain’s K-Ractermania will see summer and beach SpongeBob SquarePants accessories launch across the market, including beach bags, belts, wallets, isothermal bags, and camera cases.

In Turkey, Ataman is set to produce SpongeBob SquarePants wet wipes, marking the first time the company has signed a licensed wet wipes deal.

Finally, in South Africa, Buzzdi Fashions has signed a swimwear deal for Dora the Explorer to manufacture swimsuits for two- to-six-year-olds that will take the character to retailers Ackermans, Edgars and PnP, while Style-Eyes of California will take Dora outerwear to Edcon group’s Jet department stores. Style-Eyes is also producing iCarly outerwear for Jet and Edgars. The iCarly tween fashion range is set to arrive in South African stores this fall
