Global media company Classic Media has teamed with children’s publishing conglomerate The Walker Group to create a new global publishing program for Where’s Waldo?, which will involve creating a spin-off program based on the cryptic character.

The Walker Group is the publisher of the original Where’s Waldo? series created by Martin Handford, which was first published in 1987 and now appears in 38 countries and 27 languages.

The deal marks the first spin-off program for Where’s Waldo? and features all-new material that will be released across a variety formats to complement the original series. The line will debut in 2012 in honor of Waldo’s 25th anniversary.

The announcement follows Waldo’s recent video and mobile game debuts, that included apps for the iPhone and the iPod touch.
