Leaders from the toy and baby products industries banded together last week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Toys ‘R’ Us Children’s Fund Gala in New York City, which raised roughly US$4.5 million in the name of keeping children safe and helping them in times of need.

The retailer’s 25th anniversary edition of the event was hosted by comedian Martin Short and featured a performance by Faith Hill.

Additionally, attendees pledged nearly US$140,000 to support the Special Olympics Young Athletes program, which introduces children ages two through seven with intellectual disabilities to the world of sport. Donations made during last night’s event will be directed to Special Olympics to provide young athletes and their families with a sports training kit, training assistance and to make possible a Young Athletes experience at major events.

Since its inception in 1992, the Toys ‘R’ Us Children’s Fund, a public charity affiliated with retailer Toys ‘R’ Us, has raised more than US$90 million help organizations and programs that positively impact the lives of children.
