New merchandise is in the works for the classic bedtime story Goodnight Moon.

Licensing firm United Media has extended its relationship with HarperCollins Children’s Books (HCCB), signing on to develop and to manage the licensing program for the book written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd.

United Media plans to craft a lifestyle program for Goodnight Moon, featuring merchandise that comforts infants and toddlers during the day and seamlessly transitions them from book to bed. Targeting newborns, infants and toddlers, the core product categories will include apparel/accessories, domestics, room décor, gifts and infant and preschool toys.

For more than 50 years, Goodnight Moon has established itself as a favorite bedtime story about a sleepy little bunny in his great green room. The book has sold more than 20 million copies to date and has been translated into 12 languages.

United Media also works with HarperCollins Children’s Books on the highly acclaimed publishing property, Fancy Nancy. Their collective efforts have developed a very successful character merchandising program that continues to gain momentum in the marketplace.
